This past summer, 19 Americans from Dallas, Austin & Boston joined 26 Russians from all over Eurasia for an unforgettable 2 weeks. In St. Petersburg, Russia we kicked off the first Corps On the Neva.” We all lived together, ate all our meals together, served at orphanages together and had daily bible lessons and discussion groups together. Many of the students were not even able to speak the same language, but through loving and serving as Jesus did found a way to communicate in ways that words never could. It was so inspiring to see a new generation of high school and college students bond with each other over the 2 weeks — reminiscent of the original mission team twenty-four years ago. It was truly a “more than you can imagine” moment when the next generation was leading both Sunday services — with several of the participants being the actual children of the original mission team and early disciples of the St. Petersburg church. Some of the most memorable moments were the evening “shout outs” in which they encouraged one another — sometimes for almost an hour. The torch is being passed with a new dream and vision for the next generation to “set an example.” The St. Petersburg church just hired 6 of the students from “Corps On the Neva” to work as part-time interns this fall. Please continue to pray for the work in Eurasia. We eagerly wait for an official Hope Youth Corp in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2018. To God be the Glory!
